NX Web Player is the new application to allow administrators to deploy NX 4
sessions on the Web and give access to user's desktop via any
browser-enabled device without installing additional software locally.
The Web player is available with any of the server package among those of
NX Connect family, the NX Virtual Desktop family or NX Enterprise
Server. The installation of the server package provides a small web
server, namely NX Htd, pre-configured to serve the Web Player application
out-of-the-box.
The NX Web Player front-end can be easily integrated into Web sites and portals or
used as a stand-alone application. It can give access to a single
pre-configured server, or to a list of servers.
Administrators can provide their users with pre-configured access to both
virtual desktop sessions (on Linux and Solaris) and remote access to
desktops, included Windows and Mac.
The NX Web Player GUI
The Web GUI allows the user to run a pre-configured NX session or, depending on the Web
Player settings, to create its own temporary session settings. Once the session
is started, the Web Player offers the user a number of tools to interact with the session:
- Change the image compression and quality level.
- Choose the link type.
- Transfer files from remote to locale and vice-versa.
- Activate the NX clipboard to manage copy&paste operations.
- Activate the draggable NX virtual keyboard.
- Resize and rescale the session.
- Activate the viewport navigation.
- Detach the session to a new browser window.
