What you need to know about automatic updates (v.5)
All server installations, included NoMachine (free), and the Enterprise Client for Windows, Linux and Mac have the automatic check for updates enabled.

This means that the NoMachine program, will periodically check our repositories (by default every two days) to verify if updates are available. In this case, the NoMachine program will prompt a dialog informing the user that a new version is available but it will never automatically update the current installation. This dialog provides the "Don't ask me again for this version" option.

Checking for updates can be disabled by selecting the "Automatically check for update" option in the 'Updates' panel of the GUI.

A further option in the same panel, "Install updates in background' allows NoMachine to silently download the new version from our repositories and store it in background. If this option is enabled, the NoMachine program will prompt a dialog asking about installing the new version. Also in this case the explicit authorization is requested to proceed with the update.

TIP

The automatic updates require that hosts with NoMachine client or server installed have access to the NoMachine update server on port 4000. Automatic updates use the TCP protocol.
