The 'busy' cursor is not visible on Linux Mint 19

On Linux Mint MATE 19 64-bit, the "busy" or "wait" cursor is not displayed. The regular cursor (arrow) is displayed but as soon as it switches to the animated round spinning circle (busy cursor), it's no longer visible. After returning to the normal state, the cursor reappears. This problem doesn't occur on Linux Mint MATE 18 64-bit.

This problem is triggered by the following issue affecting X.org and solved in X.org 1.20:

https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/xorg/xserver/commit/ceaf4277447407a7430b9bc3205462fbdbae0e39

It's therefore suggested to upgrade X.org.
