I try to install the latest version of NoMachine for linuxx86_64. But I have no administrator rights and no root writing rights want to install it locally.

Now I have tried the installation with tar.gz. However if I use the documented NX_INSTALL_PREFIX to my personal map, then it still wants to write at /etc/NX

    How can I change this?

    Thank you for your help.

    Hi Onno,

you need administrator privileges to install NoMachine.

We have a Feature Request open for Linux which, when implemented, will let you install without being root user: https://www.nomachine.com/FR11G02295. Perhaps you saw this and thought it was implemented?

    thank you for your reply.

I did figure out how to use it, without installing. I unpacked the nxplayer and nxclient and now I can use the software by just starting ./nxplayer. I only needed to open an computer not set up my own, so this works for me.

There is a free to download Enterprise Client if you’re interested.
