Adding support for GPU accelerated H.264 hardware decoding on Linux

ID: FR06O03453 Priority: High
Products: NoMachine Client Target: 7
Status: Implemented

Thanks to this implementation, NoMachine is able to use the H.264 hardware decoding on Linux machines with hardware accelerated video cards (GPUs) and providing the Video Acceleration API (VA API, by means of libVA).

In all the other cases, the H.264 decoding library will be used. Note that since version 6.6.8 all products provide H.264 software acceleration capabilities.

Note for v. 6

This feature is already available since v. 6.7 but disabled by default since it was in experimental stage.

To enable it in v.6, edit the player.cfg file in the user's home/.nx/config directory and set:

<option key="Enable hardware accelerated decoding" value="true" />
