Loading a configuration or recording file via NoMachine player

Starting from version 7, it is possible to load NoMachine connection files (.nxs or .nxw) and recordings (.nxv or .nxr) directly via the player. This is extremely useful when you have a connection file or a recording file in another directory on your computer and you want to make it available from the Machines panel. Here’s how:

Loading an .nxs or .nxw file

Step 1: Go to the Machines panel

You can reach the Machines panel from the Monitor !M icon in the system tray by selecting ‘main window’.

The Machines panel stores your session files

Step 2: Select Add

In ‘Add connection’, click the link at the bottom of the panel ‘Load a configuration or a recording file’.

Loading an .nxr or .nxv file

All recordings (with the .nxr or .nxv extensions) are stored to the local computer for easy storage and can be played back using the NoMachine player. Recordings made with version 7 are stored as .nxr files. From version 7 recording files on the local device with these two extensions are made available in the Machines panel.

Here’s how you can add a recording file to be stored in the Machines panel.

Step 1: Go to the Machines panel

You can reach the Machines panel from the Monitor !M icon in the system tray by selecting ‘main window’.
